Sustain Word is an independent buying-guide site about home thermostats. We help you compare models and pick one that suits your house.
We write for homeowners, DIYers and anyone replacing an old thermostat. You don't need an HVAC vocabulary, because we explain terms like C-wire, stages and line voltage in plain words.
What we cover
Our guides cover smart, digital and basic thermostats from brands like Honeywell Home, ecobee, Google Nest, Sensi and Amazon. We also cover mini-split controllers, electric baseboard thermostats, wall plates, lock boxes and winter settings.
We compare models side by side, so you can see the trade-offs before you buy.
What we do
We read the product details, specs and maker information for every thermostat we cover. We also look at what buyers often say after living with one.

What we don't do
We don't make or sell thermostats, and no brand pays us to rank its products.
